Advent at Sacred Heart

WEDNESDAYS:  November 29, December 6, 13, 20
6 p.m.

This year, make a pledge to yourself and your family to celebrate Advent in a special way! We are here to help!

Advent, from the Latin word "adventus" means "arrival" or "approach," is a time of hopeful longing, joyful expectation, prayerful penance and spiritual preparation.

These things can sometimes be hard to remember when you're in the hustle and bustle of a busy Christmas season. The Church in it's wisdom connects us spiritually with God's whole plan of redemption in Christ with its liturgy and ancient traditions during the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas.

The God who acted in Israel, often with surprising graciousness in the lives of the patriarchs and the kings is the same God who is acting again with surprising graciousness in the lives of Joseph and Mary as He reveals what He is going to accomplish. He is ready to act with surprising graciousness in YOUR life.

But the Messiah cannot come without the preparatory period of Israel's history and the preparatory responses of fidelity by Joseph and Mary. During Advent we’re offering YOU a third time of preparation that affects our very own lives, for Christ will not come in his fullness to us unless we too are prepared.

An evening of quiet, calm, and sacredness awaits you. Come, prepare your hearts for the birth of our Savior and make room for Him by joining us this Advent.

Sacramentals and Advent gifts will be shared each week for families to help them celebrate Advent more fully in their homes!
